There are no surviving lower court records of the hearings that took place in Vassalboro in December of 1789 in the rape case brought by Rebecca Foster.

We do know, however, that the lower court in Vassalboro referred the case to Sessions in Hallowell, which, in turn, referred the case on to the Supreme Judicial Court in Pownalboro. |
