  August, 1786.         Hallowel.
Tuesday 1.  
Wedsday 2.  
Thursday 3. My brother Jotham arrived from Bath.
Friday 4.  
Saturday 5.  
Sunday 6. Mr. Foster preached -- [Arminian Doctrine.]
Monday 7.  
Tuesday 8. Had a conference with Mr. Foster -- could not convince him of the impropriety of his doctrine.
Wedsday 9.  
Thursday 10.  
Friday 11.  
Saturday 12. -- Conversed with Mr. Foster respecting experience.
Sunday 13. Mr. Foster preached -- rank arminianism.
Monday 14. -- Town meeting -- to appoint the day of ordination which Foster fixed the 11. of Oct. next & agreed to send to the churches of Bristol, Bath, Harpswell, E. Pownalborough, & Stroudwater -- with two others to be chosen by Mr. Foster, for pastors & delegates to compose the Council.
Tuesday 15.

-- Had a close, plain, & solemn interview with Mr. Foster, respecting his (as I call them) heretical doctrine.
  Wrote my parents by Mr. Foster, who sat off for Connecticut.
