Martha Ballard's Story
Chapter 17

The Foster epilogue

After the Pownalboro trial, Martha never again mentioned the Rev. Mr. Isaac Foster and his family in her diary. One suspects she would have recorded getting news about them.

But no news of the Fosters seems to have traveled up the Kennebec River to Martha.

Find out what can be pieced together about the Fosters from letters, from town histories in New York and Maryland, and from newspapers. Do you believe that Rebecca ended up in Peru?

Martha's entries on Rev. Foster appear in a 1904 town history
The Conclusion of One Rape. Two Stories.
