Clear. I returnd to my Sons, was at mr Childs, Westons & mr Hamlins. hear that Elijah Barton has gone away being acused of Shooting mr Chadock which hapned 9th inst when he was asisting a Surveyer in runing out land in [no entry]. there were three guns fired. the men who Cummitted the Crime were in disguise, a woful afair. I went with others to See the Jail. at Livermors and other Places. Saw Joseph Bowman & Lady.

Clear and Cool. I returnd home between 8 & 9 am found much to do but got through it. Allin Lambard Came and Carried his Mothers Coverled away. at Son Ephms. Death Capt Cox.

Clear, a frost this morn. I have been at home, Bakt and did other matters. Dagt Ballard here & 4 Childn, informs me my Son is gone down Expecting to go to Jail. I am very Sorry he is So much hampered. we are informd that Capt Cox Expired yesterday very Sudently. may I be prepard for that Chang when ever it may take place. at home, Dagt Ballard here.

Cloudy and rainy all day, a heavy Shower at Evng with thunder. mr Ballard and my Self were Sent for to attend ye Funeral of Capt James Cox of Hallowell but the wether was such we Could not go. I have Brewed and knit Some and done other matters.
